Bird Monitor
The Cacophony Project started specifically because we thought the manual 5 minute bird counts would be dramatically improved with digital recording and AI analysis. All the other bird monitoring products we could find were not designed to stay out monitoring forever over time. We designing a new version that it will be included in the thermal camera.
Bird Monitor Design Over Time
The first version of the bird monitor was based on a cell phone but this has proved difficult to maintain due to constantly changing hardware and software. We are in the process of designing a new updated version and it will be included in the thermal camera.
Automated Analysis
The online platform we have developed will continue to be useful as it already does automatic analysis of total bird numbers and identifies 15+ different bird species
